Clean streams for Toronto: restoring Baobab Beach
A neighborhood-led restoration of Baobab Beach needs $2,600 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world2,107 views
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 105 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 116 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,600
• Tools and protective gear: $330
• Waste removal and skip hire: $550
• Signage and educational materials: $120
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Shared it with a few friends. We're a small family in Cali but we're thinking of you. Take care.
Thinking of you and your family, Maverick. This could happen to any of us. All the best.
Hope things get better soon, Maverick. More neighborhoods should do this. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Prayagraj.
Wishing you peace, Maverick. This could happen to any of us. All the best!
