Clean streams for Thessaloniki: restoring the Lotus hillside
Help us clean and replant the Lotus hillside before the November planting window closes.
🇬🇷 Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece1,840 views
The Lotus hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 107 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 195 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $750 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $200
• Waste removal and skip hire: $210
• Native saplings and stakes: $340
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Pavlos?
Thank you. If you're in Thessaloniki I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
gave what I could, wish it was more. After 6 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
So sorry you're going through this, Pavlos. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Jeddah.
sending good thoughts, Pavlos. Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Thessaloniki.
Hope things get better soon. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Thessaloniki.
Stay strong, Pavlos. This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.
