Clean streams for São Paulo: restoring the Maple canal
Volunteers are restoring the Maple canal in São Paulo; $800 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Maple canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 63 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 199 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $800 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $360
• Tools and protective gear: $150
• Waste removal and skip hire: $200
• Signage and educational materials: $90
Thanks for being kind about this.

Praying for you, Renata. Your post was clear and honest. After 18 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Wishing you the best, Renata. Shared it with a few friends. Take care.
Hope things get better soon. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't give up. Greetings from Monterrey.
