Clean streams for Riyadh: restoring the Lotus wetland
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the November planting window closes.
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia524 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 77 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 116 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $700 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $240
• Signage and educational materials: $80
• Waste removal and skip hire: $380
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

wishing you the best, Walid. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.
Rooting for you, Walid. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Sylhet so I could bring a meal.
Hope it all works out. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Oakland.
