Clean streams for Reims: restoring the Sycamore canal
Volunteers are restoring the Sycamore canal in Reims; $1,150 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇫🇷 France1,135 views
The Sycamore canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 83 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 41 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $830
• Signage and educational materials: $110
• Tools and protective gear: $210
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Updates from Charlotte
Good news. Because of your gifts ($245 in total) I made the first payment toward signage and educational materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Quick update: $245 raised so far (21%). the first invoice got paid this week. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Thank you all. We're at 12% now ($140). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for tools and protective gear is now scheduled.
