Clean streams for Port Harcourt: restoring the Maple wetland
Help us clean and replant the Maple wetland before the December planting window closes.
🇳🇬 Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria1,127 views
The Maple wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 50 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 156 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $280
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Waste removal and skip hire: $95
• Signage and educational materials: $15
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Sending love. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Manila.
Wishing you peace, Yakubu. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
