Clean streams for Mumbai: restoring the Lotus riverbank
Help us clean and replant the Lotus riverbank before the October planting window closes.
🇮🇳 India1,327 views
The Lotus riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 148 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $140
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Waste removal and skip hire: $130
• Signage and educational materials: $20
Thank you so much.

Quick update: $96 raised so far (27%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($46 in total) the plan for native saplings and stakes is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Small update. $31 so far, the plan for native saplings and stakes is now scheduled.

Wishing you the best, Sandeep. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings
Hang in there. Hope this works out for you. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Mumbai
