Clean streams for Lowell: restoring the Maple riverbank
Volunteers are restoring the Maple riverbank in Lowell; $2,000 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 United States1,159 views
The Maple riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 65 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 89 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,150
• Tools and protective gear: $380
• Waste removal and skip hire: $260
• Signage and educational materials: $210
I hope life is good to you.

Thinking of you. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 17 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Hope it all works out, Willow. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Epe.
reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Jeddah
