Clean streams for Jakarta Barat: restoring the Baobab riverbank
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Baobab riverbank needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world712 views
The Baobab riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 76 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 176 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $250 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Waste removal and skip hire: $130
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Rooting for you, Pandu. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Pandu.
It's all in the list in the story. signage and educational materials is the big one at $25, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Good question.
You're not alone. Shared this with my family. Love from Ottawa
Wishing you peace, Pandu. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
Good luck, Pandu. Hope you get there. All the best.
Good luck, Pandu. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Mobile.
