Clean streams for Fort Worth: restoring the Sycamore riverbank
Help us clean and replant the Sycamore riverbank before the September planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States3,225 views
The Sycamore riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 41 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 63 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,400
• Tools and protective gear: $290
• Waste removal and skip hire: $440
• Signage and educational materials: $220
With deep gratitude,
Joaquín

Hope things get better soon. I hope things turn around soon. Wish I lived closer to Bonny so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Newcastle
Hang in there. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like!
Thinking of you and your family, Joaquín. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Perth.
