Clean streams for Dhaka: restoring Sycamore Beach
Volunteers are restoring Sycamore Beach in Dhaka; $100 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇧🇩 Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh1,281 views
Sycamore Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 85 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 70 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $100 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $30
• Native saplings and stakes: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $5
Thank you so much.

Hope it all works out. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. God bless
Praying for you, Mim. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Nha Trang but we're thinking of you. Love from Nha Trang.
You're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Dhaka!
Sending strength. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Karachi.
