Clean streams for Bogotá: restoring the Baobab canal
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Baobab canal needs $600 for saplings and equipment.
🇨🇴 Bogotá, Bogotá D.C., Colombia430 views
The Baobab canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 34 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 112 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $600 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $220
• Tools and protective gear: $170
• Waste removal and skip hire: $150
• Signage and educational materials: $60
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

You're not alone. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Greetings from Jakarta Barat.
Shared it with a few friends. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Bekasi.
Stay strong, Diego. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Diego. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
