Clean air and water for Los Angeles: restoring the Lotus wetland
Volunteers are restoring the Lotus wetland in Los Angeles; $2,450 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 Los Angeles, California, United States339 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 35 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 60 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $910
• Tools and protective gear: $410
• Waste removal and skip hire: $870
• Signage and educational materials: $260
Thanks for reading all this.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Joseph?
Sending good thoughts. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double

Best of luck, Joseph. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Varanasi so I could bring a meal. Take care!
