Clean air and water for Lagos: restoring the Maple hillside

Help us clean and replant the Maple hillside before the August planting window closes.

Lagos
The Maple hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 67 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 107 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $350 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $190 • Tools and protective gear: $55 • Waste removal and skip hire: $65 • Signage and educational materials: $40 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Nonso

Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Lagos.

Rooting for you, Nonso. More neighborhoods should do this. I'll check back for the next update.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Lagos.
