Clean air and water for La Plata: restoring Harmony Beach
Help us clean and replant Harmony Beach before the December planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,092 views
Harmony Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 48 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 117 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $500 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $170
• Waste removal and skip hire: $115
• Native saplings and stakes: $215
Thank you for reading my story.

thinking of you. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I'm in teaching myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care
Hope things get better soon. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like!
Sending strength, Claudia. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
