The Cedar canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 67 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 71 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $350 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $105 • Tools and protective gear: $60 • Waste removal and skip hire: $120 • Signage and educational materials: $65 Glad we found this place.

  • Keep going, Vadym. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

    • stay strong. Great idea, hope you get there. My neighbor in Mysuru donated after I showed her your page.

      • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Embakasi but we're thinking of you.
