Clean air and water for Belo Horizonte: restoring the Union riverbank
Volunteers are restoring the Union riverbank in Belo Horizonte; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇧🇷 Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil959 views
The Union riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 49 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 91 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $170
• Signage and educational materials: $65
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
I hope life is good to you.
- Felipe

Praying for you, Felipe. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless!
Take care, Felipe. More neighborhoods should do this. I hope August is when things finally get easier
