A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Riverside

A community-led a youth football pitch at the old Baobab bus depot that will serve 424 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,000. It will serve about 424 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,000 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $290 • Safety equipment and signage: $430 • Permits and inspections: $280 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Sandeep
