San Nicolás de los Garza
Pedro is facing a citizenship application. The hearing is scheduled for November, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $650. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline. Pedro has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at San Nicolás de los Garza Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid. If the deadline is missed Pedro could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know. The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed. Where the $650 goes: • Attorney retainer: $410 • Filing and biometrics fees: $170 • Certified translations and document copies: $30 • Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $40 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from Rodrigo

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($155 in total) I made the first payment toward filing and biometrics fees. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($155 in total) the plan for certified translations and document copies is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Update from San Nicolás de los Garza: we've started the first stage. We're at 6% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Rodrigo
