Citizenship application: Anil needs $400 before the deadline
A citizenship application deadline is approaching and Anil can't afford the lawyer.
🇮🇳 India978 views
Anil is facing a citizenship application. The hearing is scheduled for April, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $400. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Anil has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at a local immigrant rights clinic has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Anil could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $400 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $230
• Filing and biometrics fees: $125
• Certified translations and document copies: $30
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $15

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near New Delhi.
Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Pune
