For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $70, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 401 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $350 goes: • Materials: $155 • Permits and inspections: $65 • Safety equipment and signage: $65 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 Glad we found this place.

  • Stay strong, Kehinde. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 6 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Take care!
