Cataract surgery for Teresa: covering what insurance won't

Teresa was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in June. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $12,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $9,550 short.
my mother has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since June. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $12,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Teresa struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Teresa won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
