Cataract surgery for Lamia: covering what insurance won't
Lamia needs cataract surgery at Savar Orthopedic Institute and the family is $600 short of the hospital's estimate.

Lamia was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in April. The surgeon at Savar Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $860, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $600 short.
my sister has been in and out of Savar Orthopedic Institute since April. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $860 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lamia struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Lamia won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
