Henry was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in May. The surgeon at Ibadan Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,150 short.
my brother has been in and out of Ibadan Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Henry struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Henry won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
