Grayson was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in March. The surgeon at Cardiff General Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $12,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,950 short.
my husband has been in and out of Cardiff General Hospital since March. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $12,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Grayson struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Grayson won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
