Cataract surgery for Femi: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Femi was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Femi was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in February. The surgeon at Kano Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $850 short.
my father has been in and out of Kano Community Hospital since February. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Femi struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Femi won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
