Carter received an eviction notice - help us catch up on rent
After a divorce, Carter is 5 months behind on rent and has a final eviction notice from the landlord.

When the hotel closed in August, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,250.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $3,250 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $2,150
• Late fees and court costs: $180
• First month of rent as a buffer: $920
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
- due date
- 2025-11-29
- bill type
- Rent arrears

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Wollongong
Thank you. If you're in Wollongong I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
Hope things get better soon, Carter. Looking forward to the next update. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
