Carpenters wanted: an entrance ramp for Doris
Doris uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.
🇺🇸 Los Angeles, California, United States583 views
Doris has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Doris can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Doris's family will cook lunch for the team.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

good luck, Daniel. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Los Angeles
Rooting for you, Daniel. I hope things turn around soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. God bless.
