Carol was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in May. The surgeon at Macon Regional Medical Center recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $6,650 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Macon Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Carol struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Carol won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
