Carmela was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Manila General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,150 short.
my mother has been in and out of Manila General Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Carmela struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Carmela won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
