I'm caring for my father, who's 83. After the death of his spouse Shankar can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Shankar desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Shankar worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $850 goes: • Part-time carer (three months): $610 • Medication and prescriptions: $85 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $60 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $95 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
