I'm caring for my mother, who's 80. After the death of her spouse Janet can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Janet desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Janet worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,200 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $3,300
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $380
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $520

so sorry you're going through this. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it!
