Cameron was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in August. The surgeon at Toronto Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,700 short. my brother has been in and out of Toronto Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Cameron struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Cameron won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $4,700 goes: โ€ข Post-operative medication: $320 โ€ข Physiotherapy sessions: $610 โ€ข Hospital stay (3 nights): $3,200 โ€ข Pre-operative tests and imaging: $570 Thank you for reading my story. - Brian

  • Praying for you, Brian. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. After 24 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
