Cairo flash flood relief - Marketplace village
After the flash flood, families in Marketplace village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flash flood hit Marketplace village on 1 May. My home was one of 41 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $900 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $280
• Clean water and purification supplies: $165
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $105
• Food parcels for displaced families: $110
• Tools and labor for repairs: $240
Thanks for reading all this.

Hope things get better soon, Rami. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Rami. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 26 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Rami. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.
your post was clear and honest. I have a 14 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Greetings from Tema!
