Build a wheelchair ramp for Thabisa in Soweto

Thabisa uses a wheelchair and cannot leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

🇿🇦 Gauteng, South Africa727 views
Thabisa has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Thabisa can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Thabisa's family will cook lunch for the team. I hope life is good to you.

Thanks for sharing this, Precious. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
