Build a wheelchair ramp for Eimear in Dublin

Eimear uses a wheelchair and cannot leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Eimear has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Eimear can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Eimear's family will cook lunch for the team. Thank you for reading my story.

  • So sorry you're going through this, Siobhan. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless

    • good luck. I hope things turn around soon. After 23 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • So sorry you're going through this, Siobhan. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best

Stay strong, Siobhan. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I have a 15 year old who wants to send good wishes too

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. After 21 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless.
