The storm hit the Sunrise neighborhood on 25 August. My home was one of 53 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $2,900 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,550 • Food parcels for displaced families: $780 • Clean water and purification supplies: $570 Every share and every dollar helps. - Petra

  • Sending love, Petra. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

    • This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Biratnagar!

      • Wishing you peace, Petra. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.

        • stay strong. Shared this with my family. Please keep us posted. All the best.

          • Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Istanbul donated after I showed her your page.

Hope things get better soon, Petra. Your post was clear and honest. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
