I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Richards Bay Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a specialist standing frame. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,450. My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 7 weeks. With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $1,450 goes: • specialist standing frame: $1,300 • Fitting and training sessions: $35 • Delivery and set-up: $50 • First-year servicing plan: $65 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
