Bennett was diagnosed with stomach cancer in April. The oncology team at Brisbane University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Bennett is 50, worked as a nurse until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Brisbane University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $6,600 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,000 • Scans and lab work: $1,000 • Transport to Brisbane University Hospital: $620 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $370 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,610 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
