For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $510, and the remaining cost is $3,350. It will serve about 149 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,350 goes: • Materials: $2,700 • Permits and inspections: $320 • Safety equipment and signage: $330 Thank you for reading my story.

  • Praying for you, Logan. More neighborhoods should do this. After 14 years in teaching I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
