Yonkers
Ruby earned a place in Grade 9 at Yonkers Science Academy, and the family couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things She needs, including a laptop for the graphic design course, and a uniform. The family has few resources; the list costs $900, which is more than they have. Ruby loves graphic design and wants to become a nurse. A laptop will allow coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours. She will take care of everything given and works very hard. Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag. Where the $900 goes: • Laptop: $430 • School uniform and shoes: $210 • Textbooks and workbooks: $175 • Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $85 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Jose

Updates from Jose

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 52% funded and the plan for textbooks and workbooks is now scheduled.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($380 in total) I made the first payment toward textbooks and workbooks. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ruby.

Sure. The biggest one is laptop, $430. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for asking.

Stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
