For three years I have run a barbershop in Bengaluru. In March, a fire in the building took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $300 goes: • Working capital for the first month: $85 • Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $190 • Shop repairs and licensing: $25 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Updates from Swetha

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($115 in total) I made the first payment toward shop repairs and licensing. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Swetha

Sure. The biggest one is working capital for the first month, $85. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.

  • Best of luck, Swetha. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Brooklyn but we're thinking of you. God bless.

    • Praying for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Kyiv

      • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in London but we're thinking of you.
