Back to business - Rudi's comeback in Jakarta Selatan

Rudi has run a small grocery stall for four years; a break-in destroyed the equipment, and $500 will put it back on its feet.

Jakarta Selatan
For four years I have run a small grocery stall in Jakarta Selatan. In August, a break-in took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $500 goes: • Replacing a cold-storage unit: $250 • Initial stock: fresh produce: $70 • Shop repairs and licensing: $45 • Working capital for the first month: $135 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Rudi

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($142 in total) the plan for shop repairs and licensing is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Jakarta Selatan: I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. We're at 28% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. 17% there. I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Thank you.
