For six years I have run a roadside café in Kelowna. In July, the demolition of the market took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $2,350 goes: • Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $1,500 • Initial stock: coffee and pastries: $520 • Shop repairs and licensing: $330 Thanks for being kind about this. - Paul

  • Sending love, Paul. Hope you make a strong comeback. Sent it to 7 people at work.

    • Sending good thoughts, Paul. Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.

      • So sorry you're going through this. Small businesses are the heart of Kelowna. Hope you're open again soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double

        • Stay strong. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. God bless.

          • thanks for sharing this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Fort Worth but we're thinking of you.
