Back to business - Melanie's comeback in Peoria
Melanie lost three industrial sewing machines to a storm that collapsed the roof and needs $4,250 to reopen a tailoring shop and support the family.

For nine years I have run a tailoring shop in Peoria. In October, a storm that collapsed the roof took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $4,250 goes:
• Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $3,400
• Shop repairs and licensing: $320
• Working capital for the first month: $530
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Hope things get better soon, Melanie. Your post was clear and honest. After 7 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Peoria.

Rooting for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Kasarani donated after I showed her your page. All the best
