Back to business - Januka's comeback in Kathmandu
Januka lost two washing machines and a dryer to a storm that collapsed the roof and needs $350 to reopen a laundry service and support the family.

For nine years I have run a laundry service in Kathmandu. In January, a storm that collapsed the roof took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 3 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $350 goes:
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $100
• Shop repairs and licensing: $40
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $210

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Januka.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. initial stock: detergent and packaging comes first ($100) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
hope it all works out, Januka. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from San Francisco.
So sorry you're going through this, Januka. Hope you get there.
