Back to business - Fatuma's comeback in Embakasi
A flower stall in Embakasi needs help replacing display cabinets and a cooler after a storm that collapsed the roof.
🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya704 views
For nine years I have run a flower stall in Embakasi. In May, a storm that collapsed the roof took display cabinets and a cooler. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $400 goes:
• Working capital for the first month: $105
• Replacing display cabinets and a cooler: $220
• Initial stock: seasonal flowers: $75
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

how is Fatuma doing now?
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Gwagwalada.
gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't give up. Thinking of Embakasi
good luck. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
Hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Embakasi.
