Lahore
For twelve years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Lahore. In July, the demolition of the market took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $500 goes: • Replacing a commercial oven: $380 • Shop repairs and licensing: $30 • Working capital for the first month: $90 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Ali

Updates from Ali

  1. Quick update: $295 raised so far (59%). I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($120 in total) the plan for replacing a commercial oven is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Update from Lahore: I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. We're at 18% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
