Back to business - Akira's comeback in Tokyo
Akira lost two washing machines and a dryer to floodwater and needs $1,800 to reopen a laundry service and support the family.

For nine years I have run a laundry service in Tokyo. In July, floodwater took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $1,800 goes:
• Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $770
• Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $360
• Shop repairs and licensing: $230
• Working capital for the first month: $440
Thank you so much.

Wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Ekurhuleni.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Akira
Sure. The biggest one is replacing two washing machines and a dryer, $770. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
You're not alone, Akira. Your post was clear and honest. God bless.
How is Akira doing now?
Best of luck, Akira. Hope you make a strong comeback
Thanks for sharing this. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Nairobi but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Nairobi
I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Rohini this morning. God bless
Thanks for sharing this, Akira. Hope you make a strong comeback. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care.
