Awa was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in March. The surgeon at Amsterdam University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,000 short.
my mother has been in and out of Amsterdam University Hospital since March. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Awa struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Awa won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
